Monday Morning Photo – Giraffe with the Ngong Hills in the Distance

giraffe kenya nairobi safari photography ngong

While many photographs of Nairobi National Park focus on the reserve’s proximity to the skyscrapers of the central business district, the Ngong Hills are another important part of the landscape. These hills are most famous for their mention in the opening line of “Out of Africa” and are located an hour’s drive from the capital, with the trip time heavily dependent on traffic.

I have yet to trek the Ngong Hills, but they will certainly be beckoning on the next sunny weekend. Maybe another viewing of “Out of Africa” on a Friday night will provide the proper motivation.

Hi Dave, Just beautiful! Saw “Out of Africa” again a couple of weeks ago, and I remember that opening line…now I am seeing it! Thank you…

I remember treking the Ngong hills, there were like more than 7 hills and just when you thought the worst was over another one would pop up taking it’s toll on me. Thankfully the views from the hills are magnificent making the effort worthwhile.
You should trek the hills it is definately a worthy challenge.
